Water Treatment Plants

Share: FacebookTwitter Stumble
Our comprehensive range of water treatment plants are based on latest technology. Our plants offer excellent solution to clean water from impurities and minerals. Our water treatment plants such as activated carbon filters, mineral water plants and many more are widely used across various industries. Some of our water treatment plants comprises of the following:

Reverse Osmosis Plants

Reverse Osmosis Plants

We provide Reverse Osmosis Plants which are based on the reverse osmosis process to clean impure water. Reverse osmosis is the process of forcing a solvent from a region of high solute concentration through a membrane to a region of low solute concentration by applying a pressure in excess of the osmotic pressure. As Reverse Osmosis does not occur naturally, it must be created by applying pressure to the high solids water in order to force it through the membrane, with pressures from 8 - 14 bar for fresh and brackish water, and 40 - 70 bar for seawater, which has around 24 bar (350 psi) natural osmotic pressure which must be overcome. The membranes used for reverse osmosis have a dense polymer barrier layer in which separation takes place.

Operating process:
Our RO Plants work on the Cross flow Filtration method, which takes the feed water and uses a percentage of it as a wash or reject stream, removing the solids during the filtration process. The product flow of an RO is mainly a function of temperature and pressure. RO units do not deliver to service all of the water that is fed to them. During operation, some of the incoming water is used to wash down the membrane, and only part becomes finished product water. Purified water is referred to as product and wastewater is referred to as concentrate, or reject. The percent of water delivered as product is called the recovery, and depends upon the membrane and on total RO unit design considerations

Pretreatment of water
The feed water contains various concentrations of suspended solids and dissolved matter. Suspended solids include inorganic particles, colloidal particles and biological impurities such as microorganisms and algae. Dissolved matter comprise of highly soluble salts, such as chlorides, and sparingly soluble salts, such as carbonates, sulfates, and silica. During the RO process, the volume of feed water decreases, and the concentration of suspended particles and dissolved ions increases. Suspended particles may settle on the membrane surface, thus blocking feed channels and increasing pressure drop across the system. Sparingly soluble salts may precipitate from the concentrate stream, create scale on the membrane surface, and result in lower water permeability through the RO membranes. This process of formation of a deposited layer on a membrane surface is called membrane fouling and results in performance decline of the RO system. The objective of the feed water pretreatment process is to improve the quality of the feed water to the level which would result in reliable operation of the RO membranes.

In general pretreatment comprises of the following steps:

  • Clarification followed by Sand Filtration for Turbidity removal
  • Water disinfection with chlorine
  • Hardness reduction by Softening
  • Addition of scale inhibitor
  • Reduction of free chlorine using sodium bisulfite/ Activated  carbon filters
  • Final removal of suspended particles using cartridge filters

Post Treatment:

Based on the Output water quality required, the post treatment process consists of all or some of the following treatment steps:

  • Ozonation
  • Ultra-violet
  • Chlorination systems

Demineralisation Plants

Demineralisation Plants

We manufacture and provide demineralization or deionization plants for removing mineral salts from water by using the ion exchange process. Our DM plants are available in different sizes and materials, manually operated or fully Automatic, & ready to install & are available as standard models or custom built versions for specific needs.

Working principle

A Typical two-bed DM Plant consists of two FRP/MS Rubber lined Pressure vessels connected in series along with its internal fittings. The first unit consists of high capacity strongly acidic cation exchange resin, which converts positive ions of salt and replaces them with hydrogen ions to form respective acids, which are absorbed in next vessel by strongly basic anion exchange resin. The water obtained by this process shows conductivity less than 20 µ S / cm at 25o C and total dissolved solids less than 10 ppm.
Further high purity water can be achieved by Mixed Bed Deionizers, which are designed to produce high purity treated water. They can be used as polishing units after two bed DM Plant to obtain high purity water. Mixed Bed Deionizers are single column units, filled with strongly acidic cation and strongly basic anion exchange resins mixed together.

The operation of DM plants is through the following four stages:

• Service
• Backwashing
• Regeneration
• Rinse/remix

Service:

In Service cycle the water enters the vessel and passes through the Resin bed of the respective exchanger

Backwashing:

After the resins are exhausted, the bed is backwashed. Backwashing is carried out by a uniform upward flow of water through the resin bed. The backwash step expands the resin bed releasing any entrapped particulate matter & removes the channeling in the resin column if occurred during the service cycle.

Regeneration:

When the ion exchange resins loose all the exchangeable ions, they require regeneration to restore them back to hydrogen or hydroxyl form depending upon whether they are cation or anion resins. To achieve this 4 - 5% concentrated solution of Hydrochloric acid is used for cation resin and a 4% - 5% concentrated solution of caustic soda for anion resin. Sulphuric acid can also be used for Cation Regeneration but the concentration of acid during injection must be kept at minimum, such as to prevent calcium sulphate precipitation on the resin.

Rinse: The final stage of regeneration is to rinse the resins of excess regenerant.

Some of the advantages of our DM plants include the following:

• Easy to install & operate
• Complete Assembly with backwash & regeneration equipment
• Produces DM water of high purity

Lamella Clarifier

Lamella Clarifier

Our Lamella Clarifier is a compact, inclined plate type clarifier used for clarification of water & waste water having higher suspended and colloidal particles. This is based on settlement of colloidal particles by providing a larger surface area. The Lamella Clarifier provides a means of water clarification at a large saving of surface area. (Up to 90 %)

Operating principle

Our clarifier with a series of inclined plates are arranged to form a separate sedimentation chamber between adjacent plates. Raw water is first fed to Static Mixer and chemicals such as alum, poly electrolyte are added prior to static Mixer for proper mixing of chemicals in water. Water from Static mixer enters in Flocculator in which paddle type agitator is provided for gentle mixing. Polymer is added for flocculation of coagulated particles.

The flocculated water enters the Lamella near the bottom section of the plates and flows upward between them. As the water moves upwards, solids settle downward by the plates onto the surface area provided by the plates. Solids continue to slide down the plate surfaces to the collection hopper.

Near the top of each plate, water leaves through a pair of circular openings in the adjustable weir plate located along both the sides of the clarifier. The weir plate is set horizontally to provide proper distribution of liquid through each circular opening. Sludge is periodically drained by opening the drain valve at the hopper bottom.

Advantages

• Stable flow and excellent effluent quality
• Occupies 1/10th of space required by conventional clarifiers
• No moving parts, thereby minimizing the maintenance problems
• Sludge thickener zone having four slopped hopper bottom completely replaces the extra thickness
• Maximum effective settling area per m2 of the plate area due to better hydraulic distribution and collection arrangement
• Easy drainage
• Corrosion resistant metal plates
• Does not build up deposits

Application areas

Sand Filters

Sand Filters

Our optimum quality gravity sand filters and pressure sand filters are available in different sizes and material. Our sand filters are operated manually as well as automatically. These are designed and developed to remove turbidity and suspended particles present in the feed water with minimum pressure drop. The Filter consists of a multiple layer of sand with a variety in size and specific gravity.

Working principle:

In sand filters water enters in the filter and percolates through the filter bed. Suspended matter present in the water comes in contact with the media particles and is trapped on the top of the bed. Followed by this, clean water comes out through the filtration nozzles and through the filter outlet. Periodically cleaning of this filter is done by backwashing. Water is introduced in the reverse direction of the service flow that is from the outlet nozzle upwards causing suspension of the turbid material in the filter bed & finally flushing out through the backwash valve. The Filter is then down rinsed & clear water is taken in the system.

Filter media:

Filter Media are used depending on the raw water quality and the treated water quality required. Our range of seven bedded filtration systems custom made to achieve the turbidity level of less than 1 NTU & Suspended solids less than 10 ppm. The Filtration beds comprises of the coarsest beds starting from Pebbles of 40 – 65 mm size to the finest layer of fine sand 0.8 to 1.6 mm size.
